15 Best Gary Oldman Characters

I considered writing a lengthy guide to Gary Oldman’s career in a similar way to the Great Directors series I’ve been writing, but it seemed to not capture the point–the versatility and talent of this actor. So I grabbed several of his more popular roles which you have probably seen, but may not have known were him.

Dimmesdale from The Scarlet Letter, Beethoven from Immortal Beloved, Smith from Lost in Space, Zorg from The Fifth Element, Gordon from Batman Begins, Shelley Rumsfeld from The Contender, Lee Harvey Oswald from JFK, Mason Verger from Hannibal, Prince Vlad from Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Sirius Black from Harry Potter, and Dracula from Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
